8:30am: Welcome!

  • Location: Lincoln Performance Hall – Lobby
  • #MySHX400 booth begins in lobby. Participate in the Instagram movement sharing what Shakespeare means to you in a short video clip.

9am: Wonder of Will Live Stream from the Folger Library

  • Location: Lincoln Hall Theater – LH175
  • Join the Folger Theater via live web stream as the Folger Library celebrates William Shakespeare and his extraordinary legacy through discussion and reflection.

10:15am:

  • Location: Lincoln Performance Hall – Lobby
  • Post discussion – “Who Is This Guy and Why Now” – led by Portland Shakespeare Project’s Scholar-in-Residence, Daniel Pollack-Pelzner.

11am:

  • Location:  Studio Theatre – LH115
  • Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Taming of the Shrew translation from OSF’s Play on! Project*, together with Shakespeare’s original play.  Director:  Jessica Wallenfels; Actors:  Rebecca Ridenour and Ben Newman.
  • Post discussion led by Michael Mendelson, Artistic Director, Portland Shakespeare Project.

12:30pm to 1pm: Lunch


1pm:

  • Location: Boiler Room Theatre – LH55
  • Join in a discussion of gender/race/age in Shakespeare with local dramaturgs from Portland State University, Linfield College and Portland Shakespeare Project.  Moderator:  Karin Magali.

2pm:

  • Location: Studio Theatre – LH115
  • Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Pericles translation from OSF’s Play on! Project, together with Shakespeare’s original play.  Director:  Michael Mendelson; Actor:  Dana Green.

2:30pm:

  • Location: MainStage Rehearsal Hall – LH327
  • Shakespeare’s Sonnet Slam led by Portland State University Professor Amy Greenstad.
  • This event will continue on in the Lobby.

3pm:

  • Location: Boiler Room Theatre – LH55
  • Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Henry VI translation from OSF’s Play on! Project, together with Shakespeare’s original play.  Directed by Brandon Wooley; Actor:  Orion Bradshaw.
  • Post-show discussion led by Mead Hunter, Assistant Professor of Theatre History and Dramaturgy, University of Portland.

3pm:

  • Location: Mainstage Rehearsal Hall – LH327
  • Q&A with Ian Doescher, author of “William Shakespeare’s Star Wars,” will discuss the genesis of the project and read excerpts from the book.

4pm:

  • Location: Studio Theatre – LH115
  • 4 Actors/ 5 pieces/ 400 Years featuring the talents of beloved Portland actors. Five powerful monologues from the span of Shakespeare’s work. Showcasing how his work grew, morphed, and adapted but continued to stay poignant and powerful.  Performance selections will include pieces from Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, Henry IV, Part 1, Macbeth and The Tempest.

5pm:

  • End of Day Closing remarks
